Lighting Council Australia advocates across all levels of government on behalf of our members and the lighting industry.

Our Top 10 achievements for 2023/24 include:

2024 Update (Summary)

Halogen Lamp Phase Out 

  • Filament (e.g. tungsten/halogen/carbon) lamp phase out imminent.
  • No importation 12 months after minister signs Determination.

MEPS Regulation 

  • DCCEEW disbanded working group and finalised Determination.
  • Market context report put to Ministers. Published soon. LCA will examine.
  • LED Families expanded.

Regulatory Alignment

  • LCA requested adoption of EESS (2008).
  • 2020 LCA requested Commonwealth Gov’t support for aligned electrical safety regulations.
  • 2021 Prime Ministerial support for alignment.
  • ACCC and Finance  Industry, Trade projects.
  • EESS database upgrade soon.

Solar Lighting Technical Specifications

  • LCA solar lighting members identified a gap in standardisation.
  • Poor quality products not fit for purpose.
  • LCA project proposal to Standards Australia.

As a membership organisation we listen to our members and their input into topics.  We do this in several ways:
